Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday called for building the party as modern, united and well-organized under AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's leadership ahead of the next parliamentary polls.
He made the call to party leaders and workers at the triennial council of Bhola District AL joining it virtually from his official residence, reports BSS.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said as Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina returned to her homeland, democracy was restored through ousting autocratic ruler.
As she returned, the much-awaited Padma Bridge has been established defying all conspiracies hatched at home and abroad, he said.
Bangladesh has graduated to a developing nation from a least developed country (LDC) as Sheikh Hasina returned home, he said. He said AL never hatches conspiracy against anyone but it has become victim of conspiracies repeatedly.
Today, those who had wanted to erase Bangabandhu's name from history are being wiped away from history, he mentioned.
Urging the party leaders to remain united under Sheikh Hasina, Quader said wrongdoers will not get any room in the party.
"There is no scarcity of good persons in Awami League. So, bad people will not be allowed in the party. There is no room for terrorists and extortionists in the party," he said.
