Arfanul Huque Rifat sworn in as Comilla city mayor

Arfanul Huque Rifat has been sworn-in as Cumilla City Corporation (CCC) mayor on Tuesday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually administered the oath from her official residence Ganabhaban in the capital.
All the 36 elected councilors of the city corporation, including nine of the reserved seats, also took oath on the day.
Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Minister Tazul Islam administered the oath to 27 general councilors and 9 councillors in reserved seats in person at the swearing-in ceremony.
The ruling Awami League nominated candidate Arfanul Huque Rifat was elected as the mayor of Cumilla City Corporation for the first time in the election held on June 15. He bagged 50,310 votes in 105 centres. Rifat defeated his close rival Monirul Huque Sakku who got 49,967 votes.
