Bangladesh Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon said that the government has swallowed poison by accepting the conditions given by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to increase the price of energy. He said, this poison will now spread in the body of economy, politics and society.
Menon remark it when he gave speech as the chief guest at the protest march and assembly organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan Workers Party on Saturday (August 6) against the increase in the fuel price.
Menon said economic and political instability is created in those countries where the IMF extends their help. He said, the responsibility of this crisis cannot be imposed on the common people.
Referring to the corruption and looting going on in the energy sector for two decades, Rashed Khan Menon said, this crisis could have been avoided if necessary measures were taken against these corruptions and looting. However, the increase in the price of gas, water and electricity will be a major blow for the common people.
