BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, the anti-people decision of the Awami government has led to anarchy in public life due to the increase in fuel price by almost 50 percent.
He said when global oil prices have fallen, the increase in oil prices in Bangladesh is a distorted expression of the arrogance of the authoritarian neo-Bakshali government.
Mirza Fakhrul said this in a statement sent to the media on Monday (August 8).
He said, "When the people started coming out on the streets with the logical demand of reducing the price of fuel oil, the law enforcement agency are being used as personal lathial forces to suppress it."
BNP Secretary General said, 'As the mass base of Awami League has been destroyed, they are constantly shedding blood of the people by law enforcement forces. They (Awami League) turned Bangladesh into a police state by burying democracy.
He said this government has turned the whole country into a danger zone by using law enforcement agencies and their subservient Chhatra League-Juba League.
Mentioning that the government is trying to divert people’s attention, Mirza Fakhrul in a statement on Sunday said after the killing of two leaders of Chhatra Dal and Swechhasebak Dal in Bhola, the law enforcement agencies are being used to torture mass people to save themselves (government) from public anger.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “Yesterday evening, police brutally attacked the protest rally called by Progressive Student Organizations in Shahbagh to protest against fuel price hike. We strongly condemn the attack.
