Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader on Saturday said the MPs, Ministers, and AL workers live in paradise, because they have accumulated huge wealth getting involved in rampant corruption.
Quader said this while speaking at a programme at the JP chairman's office at Dhaka's Banani.
On Friday, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said people of Bangladesh live in paradise compared to many countries of the world. His remarks led to widespread criticism among different strata of the society.
However, Momen explained about his remarks regarding the people of Bangladesh living in paradise.
Referring to the foreign minister's remarks, the JP chairman said, "In fact, the Foreign Minister made the remarks referring to the ruling Awami League's ministers, MPs, leaders and workers' financial statuses."
"They [MPs, Ministers, and men from the AL] don't lack anything. They smuggle thousands of crores of taka out of the country each year. To protect the members of their party, the government is reluctant to take action," said the JP chairman.
"On the other hand, the people of the country are in dire straits due to the economic crisis. Everyone is suffering endlessly due to rising prices. The corrupt and looters never understand the suffering of common people. The people of the country want to get rid of the present situation," he said.
