Fisheries and Livestock Minister Advocate SM Rezaul Karim today said that general Zia ordered to kill Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“This evidence was found after the brutal killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, as he (Zia) became the army chief within nine days. This has been proved how much Ziaur Rahman was involved in the carnage, he added

The Minister said while addressing a discussion on the National Mourning Day and 47th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) here as chief guest, reports BSS.

Khulna District Journalists Forum organised the discussion with its president M Fasih Uddin Mahtab in the chair, while general secretary of the organization Saju Rahman moderated the programme.

“If Sheikh Hasina did not come back to the country and take over the leadership of Awami League, we could not have got this day again. The country’s development would not be possible,” he said.

Rezaul Karim said that even after a long time, the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina executed the verdict of the murder case of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangladesh.

“But there is no room of complacent for this trial, because of those who were behind this murder have not been identified so far and brought to justice. We have not yet been able to bring those before the nation who were accomplices in this murder,” he added.

The minister also said that the murderers were resettled outside the country by Ziaur Rahman and Ershad established them politically.

Rahul Raha said, “If you cannot cherish Bangabandhu, then there is no point in talking about Bangabandhu. If Bangabandhu was not, we wouldn't be able to talk today. So if you speak against Bangabandhu, it will go against the country.”

“Bangladesh became self-reliant today from a bottomless basket under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
