Dhaka Dist Awami League conference begins in city

The triennial council of Dhaka district Awami League began at the Old Trade Fair ground at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Saturday in a festive mood.
The conference started at 2:15pm through reciting the national anthem and hoisting the national flag.
Awami League presidium member Advocate Kamrul Islam, MP, inaugurated the conference.
AL general secretary Obaidul Quader will address the conference as the chief guest, while AL organising secretary Mirza Azam will be the main speaker. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal will address the conference as the special speaker.
Dhaka District Awami League president Benazir Ahmed is presiding over the conference, while Dhaka District Awami League general secretary Mahbubur Rahman is moderating it.
Some 22,000 chairs have been kept at Old Trade Fair ground for the invited leaders and workers. Security has been tightened centering the conference. A control room has been set up at the south side of the podium. Police personnel have been deployed there.
As the conference is being held after around eight years, Dohar, Savar, Dhamrai, Nobabganj and Keraniganj upazilas were covered up by AL leaders and activists' banners and festoons.
The party leaders and workers thronged the venue in processions.
The last Dhaka AL triennial conference was held in September 2016.
