We are fighting for democracy, this is the final fight: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on wednesday said their party is fighting the final fight to restore democracy in the country.
"We want to state it clearly that no elections in Bangladesh will be free, fair and impartial without caretaker government. Eelections will not be allowed to take place in Bnagladesh without caretaker government. For this, the government will have to resign from power. They made irreparable losses to the country over the lasy 15 years. They have destroyed all our achievements. They have destroyed the country and destroyed the economy. They have resorted to mega looting in the name of mega projects," he said.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this as a chief guest at the biennial conference of Bogura District BNP at Shahid Titu Auditorium in Bogura town.
Fakhrul said, this unelected government has destroyed the country's economy. All this happened due to theft and corruption. The reserve has been consumed, laundered money, Imports of food crops have decreased, there are not enough dollars to import, remittances sent down, Awami League government is responsible for all this crisis.
Claiming that BNP is fighting to people rights, Fakhrul said, we have lost 5 leaders and activists in the fighting for people rights. Before that, more than 600 activists have gone missing. Many have been killed. Our leader Tariq Rahman has been deported with a false case. Khaleda Zia has been put under house arrest with a false case. We are fighting for democracy. This fight is the final fight. This fight is not for individuals or groups. This fight is to save the nation, he added.
BNP standing committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud opened the conference under the chairmanship of district BNP convener Saiful Islam. Rajshahi Divisional BNP Assistant Organizing Secretary ASM Obaidur Rahman Chandan, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Advisor AKM Mahbubur Rahman, Helaluzzaman Talukder, Bogra-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Mosharraf Hossain and many others were present.
