The 30th national council of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, will be held at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital tomorrow.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the 30th National Council of Chhatra League at 10:30 am.

Meanwhile, ahead of the council, the candidates were seen busy lobbying top AL leaders, gathering at Madhur Canteen to flaunt their presence, and showing their activities and dedication during the crisis period, to the concerned AL leaders.

Those who are in the race for the top posts of the central committee and Dhaka University committee are DU General Secretary Saddam Hossain, Joint General Secretary Tahsan Ahmed Rasel, organising secretaries Barikul Islam Badhan, Sad Bin Kader Chowdhury and Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, Law Affairs Secretary Fuad Hossain Shahadat, central committee Training Affairs Secretary Haider Mohammad Jitu, Relief and Disaster Management Affairs Secretary Emran Jamadder, ICT affairs secretary and former BUET president Khondokar Jami Us Sani, Liberation War Affairs Secretary Mehedi Hasan Taposh, Deputy Social Services Affairs Secretary Tanbir Hasan Shaikat, Deputy Employment Affairs Secretary Khadimul Bashar Joy, DU BCL Joint General Secretary Md. Shahjalal, Deputy Social Affairs Secretary Sheikh Sayed Anwar Sizar, DU Mohsin Hall president Shahidul Haque Shishir, Deputy Information and Technology Affairs Secretary Ehsan Ullah Piyal, Assistant Secretary Didarul Alam and Assistant Secretary SM Rakib Sirazy.

Age bar has been seen as one of the concerning issues among the candidates as those who are leading the race to getting the top positions might be left out if the current age bar (29 years) remains.

However, the age bar is likely to be increased considering some factors- upcoming national polls, delayed Chhatra League councils, and stagnation in organisational activities during the pandemic, according to some AL top leaders.

Candidate's previous activities, especially during crisis periods, family background, image, and knowledge-based activities will be taken into consideration while picking up the next leadership of the country's largest student organisation, said AL leaders.
