A Dhaka court has ordered the confiscated of movable and immovable property of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Asaduzzaman gave this order after receiving the report on the execution of the arrest warrant issued against them on Thursday (January 5).

The judge directed the officer-in-charge (OC) of the cantonment police station to submit a progress report on confiscation of the property by January 19.

On November 1 last year, the same court accepted the complaint and issued an arrest warrant against them. On June 26 last year, the High Court declared Tarique and Zubaida as 'absconders' and dismissed the writ petition challenging the corruption case. The couple has been living in London since 2008.

On September 26, 2007, the ACC filed a case against Tarique, his wife Zubaida and Zubaida's mother Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu at Kafrul police station on charges of illegally acquiring assets of Tk 48.2 million and concealing information of Tk 21.6 million.
