Agriculture Minister and Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Dr Md Abdur Razzaque on Saturday hoped that BNP will take park in the upcoming parliamentary elections despite the party's "game of waging movements."
"BNP's game of waging movements, including hartal, blockade, mass rally, mass sit-in and human chain, will continue until the election time in January 2024. But I hope they will participate in the polls as good senses will prevail upon them by this time," he said.
The AL leader said this while speaking on the occasion of the 15th horse racing competition organized by Bangabandhu Akashee Club here.
Razzaque said if the BNP leaders think that the government would collapse for their movements and the elections will be held under a neutral caretaker government, it will be unrealistic and unconstitutional.
"A fair election will be held in the country on time as per the constitution," he added.
About the horse race competition, the minister urged all to protect the age-old heritages of the Bangalees.
Noting that healthy entertainment like horse racing creates much enthusiasm among the people, Razzaque said, "We have to uphold all the folk culture including horse race, boat race and ha du du game".
Choto Monir, MP, Madhupur Upazila Parishad Chairman Sarwar Alam Khan Abu, Upazila AL President Khandaker Shafi Uddin Mani, Municipality Mayor Siddiuque Hossain Khan and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shamima Yeasmin spoke on the occasion, among others.
