Public transport fares are running as before. Fare collection through e-ticketing is a trick in the transport sector. Basically passengers are being fooled and cheated by new e-ticketing system.

Not only Nayan, many passengers complain that even though e-ticketing has been introduced in some transports, fares are charged as before. And those who are taking fares in the name of e-ticketing are also charging more fares from the passengers.

On Tuesday various complaints were received while talking to transport related persons and common passengers regarding fare collection through e-ticketing on the ground in Azimpur area of ​​the capital.

On November 13 last year, fare collection started through e-ticketing in almost all routes of the capital. In the first phase, e-ticketing was launched in 1,640 buses of 30 companies operating in the capital last November.

After that, e-ticketing was introduced in two more phases in total 947 buses of 13 companies and 711 buses of 15 companies. This e-ticketing system was originally launched by the Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association.

However, many other companies' vehicles plying in the capital have not yet come under e-ticketing.

A transport called VIP-27 operates on Gazipur-New Market route, Lovely Akhter, a passenger of this bus, said that the fare is the same as before. I don't see any change. I don't like the hassle of renting because I have to move every day.

Dewan Paribahan driver Ali Hossain said that e-ticketing has been introduced in many transports. This includes us. Many passengers don't understand how to buy tickets, we take them to the destination by charging the fixed fare through the machine.

He said, "However, because the fare of the machine is being charged a little higher, there is often a quarrel with the passengers."

When asked about the complaints of passengers about e-ticketing, Secretary General of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association Khandkar Enayet Ullah told Dhaka Prokash, "E-ticketing is available in almost all transports in Azimpur. Many a times, the passengers do not understand the issue and have various problems with the transport driver, helpers and conductors. If the passenger understood about their fare, they don't get into problem anymore. He claims that this system is going well.
