Opener Anamul Haque Bijoy on Saturday said that the Bangladesh players are well motivated to come up all guns blazing in the T20 Asia Cup tournament even though they are yet to prove their credential in the shortest format of the cricket.
Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan in the first game on August 30 to kick start their tournament. Sri Lanka is the other team in their group.
To make sure the Super Four, Bangladesh indeed need to win both of the matches, which is quite tougher job given their form in this format.
Bangladesh even can ensure the next round by winning a match but in that case they would have to rely on many ifs and buts.
"We all feel that we can make a great impact," Bijoy said in a video message sent by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
"Everyone will try to give more than what they are capable of. We all make this commitment and we believe we can do it," he said.
Bangladesh are desperate to get success in T20 after winning just two matches in this format in the last 10 encounters.
The burden of leadership has come to the hands of Shakib Al Hasan, the most experienced and world-best all-rounder of the team. Russell Domingo has lost his duties from this format after failing to inspire the team.
He, however, retained job for ODI and Test cricket. Bangladesh appointed Sridharan Sriram as the technical consultant in a bid to get the elusive success.
"Actually, we had a great meeting after Sriram came. We had discussed elaborately on how we can do well in bowling, batting and spin department. We
had discussed how we can improve our fielding. Every cricketer knows what their job is."
"From Shakib Al Hasan to senior-junior cricketers in the team, everyone is sincere and very focused in practice. After two days of practice, we seem to be preparing very well. According to the plan, we are trying to be ready for our role."
After reaching Dubai, Bangladesh have prepared for two days. On both days, Shakib and his team practiced under floodlights at the ICC Academy ground from 9 pm local time. The cricketers will rest today.
The tournament though starts today with Afghanistan-Sri Lanka, Bangladesh still have three days time before their first match in Sharjah.
"I think that this preparation will work well for us. We've got enough time to cope with his condition. Now it's time to show our credential. We are very hopeful to move into the next round."
