After a heart-stopping knock by Litton Das, India defeated Bangladesh by five runs in a crucial match in the ongoing T20 World Cup on Wednesday (November 2).

Chasing 185 runs to win, Bangladesh got off to an excellent start as Litton Das smacked a 21-ball 50. Najmul Hossain Shanto anchored on the other end as these two added 68 runs for the first wicket. When rain interrupted, Bangladesh were at 66/0 in just 7 overs, requiring 119 runs more to win in 13 overs.

However, on the 2nd delivery after the game restarted, Litton Das was run out courtesy of a brilliant direct hit by KL Rahul from mid-field. After the rain, the target was reduced to 151 runs in 16 overs i.e. Bangladesh required 85 runs to win in 9 overs.

After Litton (60 runs off 27 balls, 4x7, 6x3) was dismissed, Bangladesh lost their way as the batters were dismissed in every other over or two. Shanto (21) was dismissed in the 10th over while Afif (3) was dismissed in the 12th over. Shakib Al Hasan was also dismissed in the same over by Arshdeep Singh.

In the first innings, Virat Kohli maintained his fabulous form as India posted 184/6 against Bangladesh in the Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup 2022. If Bangladesh manages to chase this total down, they will move to the top of Group 2 in the points table.

After opener Rohit Sharma (2) was dismissed cheaply in the 4th over, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli held the crease as these two added 67 runs off just 37 balls for the 2nd wicket. KL Rahul finally showed form as he smacked 50 runs off 32 balls with 3 fours & 4 sixes.

Suryakumar played a quick-fire knock of 30 runs off 16 balls (4x4) before he was cleaned up by Shakib Al Hasan in the 14th over. Virat Kohli finished the innings fabulously as he stayed on till the end and scored 64* runs off 44 balls laced with 8 fours & a six.
