Ireland skipper Andrew Balbirnie won the toss and asked Bangladesh to bat first in the opening game of the three-match ODI series at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.
The home side handed an ODI debut to Towhid Hridoy who earlier made his T20 debut against England last week. In its bid to rotate the players ahead of the ODI World Cup later this year, Bangladesh also brought back a number of players to the fold from the previous ODI series against England in which they suffered a 2-1 loss.
While Hridoy would make his debut, the likes of Yasir Ali, fast bowler Ebadot Hossain and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed returned to the side, replacing Afif Hossain, Mahmudullah Riyad and Taijul Islam.
Ireland made two changes to the side from its last series against Zimbabwe, which it drew 1-1.
Balbirnie and offspinner Andy McBrine returned to the side, replacing Murray Cummins and Josh Little.
