Rickshaw fare can now be paid through mobile phone as a new ground-breaking feature by mobile financial service (MFS) operator Trust Axiata Pay or ‘tap’ has been introduced.
Riders will no longer need to look for the wallet after a rickshaw ride, rather they can pay the fare using ‘tap’.
Rickshaw pullers similarly need not to worry about carrying a lot of change when they receive payment on tap, said Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ‘tap’, Dewan Nazmul Hasan.
‘tap’- a joint venture company of Trust Bank Limited, Bangladesh and Axiata Digital Services, Malaysia- launched this maiden service on Saturday as a pilot project in a ceremony in the capital's Dhanmondi area.
Managing Director and CEO of Trust Bank limited and Director of tap Humaira Azam, inaugurated the project.
As part of the project, 300 rickshaw pullers were given ID cards with QR codes. Passengers will be able to send their fares to the driver’s wallet by scanning this code through the tap app on their phones.
Rickshaw pullers will receive Taka 10 bonus for every payment from tap, which will be added to the fares they receive. They will be able to withdraw the money from any tap agent.
Besides, the passengers will also receive 10 percent cash back when they pay fare with tap. The offer will be available for 15 days, until January 22, 2022.
