Dengue: 66 new patients hospitalized in 24 hrs

A total of 66 more dengue patients were hospitalized in 24 hours till Monday morning, a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
Among them, 44 patients were hospitalized in Dhaka, while 22 patients were admitted outside the capital.
With the new cases, the total number of dengue patients this year roseto 1,789 while some 1,552 patients were released from the hospitals," the release added.
Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne illness that occurs in tropical andsubtropical areas of the world. Outbreak of the disease is usually seasonal, peaking during and after rainy seasons.
The World Health Organization classifies dengue as one of the top 10 threats to public health.
