7 die of Covid-19, new cases 509 in 24 hours

A total of seven people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am Thursday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stood at 28,070 and the death rate stood at 1.77 percent, the news release added.
Some 509 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 15,85,027, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 2.25 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.82 percent.
A total of 22,667 samples were tested across the country during the time. At least 395 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,48,811 and the recovery rate at 97.72 percent.
The news release also added that of the dead, four were male and three female. One was within 41-50 years old, two were within 51-60, two were between 61-70, and two others were within 71-80 years old.
