South Korea has provided eight units of ambulances and 100 units of oxygen generators to Bangladesh in an effort to overcoming the coronavirus pandemic and enhancing the local health sector's capability.
The highly advanced ambulances are equipped with first aid medical box, medical oxygen facilities, personal protective equipment and other emergency related accessories, says a press note.
The handed over ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in the capital’s Mohakhali area. Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bangladesh Lee Jang-keun, DGHS Director General Prof Abdul Bashar Khurshid Alam, Country Director of KOICA Bangladesh Office Doh Young-Ah and other officials from DGHS were present during the programme.
While addressing the programme, Ambassador Lee said: "Korea's continuous support, including the donation of eight units of ambulances, symbolises the friendship between Korea and Bangladesh.”
Expressing sincere gratitude for Korea's support, DG Khurshid Alam said these ambulances will help save lives by providing them necessary service in time. “The Bangladesh government will work together with the South Korean government to bring the pandemic to an end.”
KOICA, South Korea's development agency, has provided the support to Bangladesh under the project of "Strengthening Quarantine Capacity against Covid-19 and other infectious diseases."
