Court scraps bail plea of 24 men of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad

A Dhaka court on Tuesday scrapped plea of 24 leaders and activists of Dhaka University chapter of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, for bail in a case lodged for assault and attempt to murder.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahmed passed the order after holding hearing on the plea, defence counsel Advocate Khademul Islam told BSS.
The accused include the organization's Dhaka University wing president Akter Hossain, general secretary Akram Hossain, Md Saddam Hossain, Md Taslim Hossain Ovee, Abdul Qader, Md Torikul Islam, Mamunur Rashid, Nazmul Hasan, Rakib, Ariful Islam and Asif Mahmud.
They are accused of assaulting some students of Dhaka University and attempting to murder them on October 7. Bangladesh Chhatra League organizing secretary Nazim Uddin filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station on October 8.
