Tuku, Nayan on 4-day remand in police attack case

A Dhaka court today placed seven BNP men including Jubo Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku and Vice-President Nurul Islam Nayan on four-day remand each in a case lodged for allegedly attacking policemen in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin passed the order as police produced the seven accused before the court and pleaded to place them on seven-day remand each in the case lodged with capital's Paltan Police Station.

The other remanded accused are- Tuku's Personal Assistant Mokhlesur Rahman, Mosharraf Hossain Khokon, Joj Miah, Farid Uddin Mona and Abdullah. Police on Saturday arrested the seven.

The case was filed with Paltan Police Station on May 26, 2022, against 30 people including Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and 100 - 150 unnamed persons.

According to the case documents, the accused brought out a violent procession, holding wooden torch, bamboo sticks, woods, chanting anti-government indecent slogans, statements. They allegedly vandalized vehicles and attacked policemen, injuring a constable and an Ansar member.
