A Dhaka court has framed charges against film actress Pori Moni and her two associates in a case filed under Narcotics Control Act.
The two others are--Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain.
Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of the Special Judge Court-10 of Dhaka fixed February 1 for starting trial in the case.
The court also dismissed the petitions submitted for discharging Pori Moni and the two others from the charges of the case while the accused claimed themselves innocent and demanded justice.
Earlier in the day, Pori Moni secured bail after she surrendered before the court and sought bail.
During the hearing, Pori Moni’s lawyer claimed that Rab neither seized any narcotics nor other substances from her possession while the prosecution said the charges brought against her were primarily proved.
On November 15 last year, Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court accepted the charges against the three.
Kazi Golam Mostafa, inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Investigation Officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka on October 4.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion detained Pori Moni and Dipu on August 4 last year. They seized alcohol and narcotics from Pori Moni's residence.
The following day, the two were shown arrested in the case filed with Banani Police Station.
Later, Kabir was shown arrested in the same case.
On September 1, Pori Moni was released from jail on ad-interim bail, four weeks after her arrest.
