Outgoing Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nurul Huda on Sunday said the incumbent Election Commission did its duty as per the law.
Speaking to the media Nurul Huda said “We have tried to be completely impartial". Saying that criticism is part of Bangladeshi culture, he added: “I think I have been successful. We completed all the elections.”
Responding to queries on whether all the elections were fair, he said: “I’m not going to say all of them were fair. There was violence and then there were instances of ballot snatching. That is just how elections are.”
According to the top election official, the voter turnout in the elections was around 70% ,which in itself is a success.
