Woman gets life term for smuggling heroin in Narail

A Narail court here on Monday sentenced a woman to life term imprisonment for smuggling heroin in 2015.

The court also fined the convict woman Wahida Begum, wife of Shariful Islam Khan, a resident of Shankarpur area in Jashore town, Taka 50,000.

District and Sessions Judge Munshi Mohammad Mashier Rahman handed down the verdict in a crowded courtroom with the presence of the convicted woman.

Public Prosecutor of the district and session Judge court Advocate Emdadul Islam said that police arrested Wahida with 100 grams of heroin on October 13, 2015 from Setarampur area in Sadar upazila. Later, a case was lodged against her with Narail Sadar Police Station in this connection.
