Food Secretary Dr Mosammat Nazmanara Khanum today assured that the prices of rice will not rise during the upcoming Ramadan.
She gave the assurance while replying to queries from the reporters at her Secretariat office.
"I can assure you (journalists) on the occasion of Ramadan, prices of rice will not increase because the Khaddo Bandhob Karmasuchi (food-friendly programme) will start in March," she said.
"As many as 50 lakh families will receive 30 kgs rice each from the month. That is why the prices will not go up at the time," the secretary added.
