Harassed for wearing teep: Police constable take into custody

Constable Nazmul Tareque, who was accused of harassing a college teacher for wearing "teep", has been taken castodty, police say.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) says it has taken one of its constables into custody on charges of harassing, abusing and physically attacking a college teacher for wearing a teep.
“Constable Nazmul Tarek has been identified as the police member behind the incident. He has been taken into custody and an investigation will be launched over the allegations made by the teacher,” Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarkar told reporters on Monday.
Dr Lata Samaddar, a teacher of Media and Theatre Studies Department of Tejgaon College, lodged a General Diary (GD) with Tejgaon Thana yesterday alleging that an unidentified constable harassed her near Sezan Shopping
Complex area in Tejgaon around 8.30am on Saturday for wearing a 'teep' on her forehead.
On her complaint, she stated that as she tried to protest, the constable ran his motorbike over her feet and escaped the spot. Samaddar also mentioned the accused's bike number- 'Jashore 13-3970' in the complaint.
