RAB ready to provide security on Eid

Rapid Action Battalion's (RAB) Elite anti-crime force on Sunday said it is ready to provide security to the citizens during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr mobilizing its nationwide networks.
"We have stepped up surveillance across the country to ensure overall security during the Eid-ul-Fitr," RAB's director general Chowdhury Abdullah Al mamun told newsmen.
Talking to the reporters while inspecting security arrangements at the Jatiya Eidgah, Mamun said extra RAB personnel were called out to enforce the security vigil across the country.
"The RAB's bomb disposal unit and dog squad have already completed sweeping of the Jatiya Eidgah ground along with important Eidgah grounds and various places," he added.
Besides, the elite anti-crime force has installed control room, ensured striking reserve forces, foot and mobile petrol, set vehicle scanners, observation posts, check posts and Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, the DG RAB said, adding that, "We have ensured monitoring system to deal with any untoward situation."
"We have also set up temporary RAB camps and check posts at launch terminals, bus terminals and railway stations for the safety of homebound people during Eid journey," Mamun said.
He said various steps were taken to stop -- harassing of passengers, charging of extra fare and carrying extra passengers -- besides steps were taken to prevent extortion on roads and waterways.
The RAB chief said that commando team was kept ready to deal with any sabotage and attack, adding, "Helicopter was kept ready fulltime and law and order was also monitored in the payment of salaries and bonuses to garment workers across the country."
He said a hotline number was opened at the RAB headquarters (01777720029) to gather information from people.
