Gaffar Chowdhury's body likely to arrive in Dhaka May 26: Foreign Minister

The body of prominent writer and columnist Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury - best known for writing the lyrics of "Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano" - is likely to Dhaka on Thursday (May 26). Foreign Minister. A. K. Abdul Momen told reporters on Friday.
Abdul Momen said "The British will open their offices on Monday. If the office opens on Monday and gives the certificate on the same day, then the next flight (Bangladesh Biman ) is on Wednesday. The body may be sent on Wednesday. That means we will get it in Dhaka on Thursday. '
Before that Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem said the body has been preserved at the Barnet Hospital in London where Gaffar Chowdhury,88, breathed his last Thursday.
"After the completion of required procedures, we will try to send his body to Dhaka as soon as possible on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight next week," she added.
According to Gaffar Chowdhury's wishes, he will be buried beside his wife at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held Friday after Jummah prayers at the Brick Lane Jamme Masjid in London.
After that, Gaffar Chowdhury's body will be taken to Shaheed Altaf Ali Park where people from all walks of life will turn up to pay their last respects to him.
