9 die of Covid-19, new cases 237 in 24 hours: DGHS

A total of nine people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am Thursday, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of deaths has now reached 27,970 and the death rate stands at 1.78 percent.
At least 237 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 1,575,185, the news release added.
The current positivity rate is 1.25 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.58 percent.
A total of 18,888 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours.
At least 360 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 1,539,553 and the recovery rate at 97.74 percent.
Of the three deceased, three were men and six were women.
Of them, one was between 21-30 years old, one was within 31-40, one was between 61-70, five were between 71-80, and one was within 81-90 years old, added the release.
