No rice can be sold in the name of Miniket: Cabinet secretary

Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said that no rice can be sold in the market by the name of miniket. The name of the variety should be written on it while packing the rice together. If anyone violates this, we will take legal action against him.
The secretary came up with this warning on Wednesday while visiting Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) in Gazipur.
The Cabinet Secretary said that the Extension Department had issued a circular in this regard 15-20 days ago. The various varieties developed by the scientists will be certified after being proofed and a decision will be taken on how the varieties can be quickly delivered to the field level through the concerned departments.
He said, if we can quickly deliver the varieties developed by researchers to the farmers through better coordination with various departments, our yield will be close to double in the next 5-6 years.
