5 cops suspended over escape of two militants

Five cops have been suspended for their negligence in the incident of escaping two death row convicts from Dhaka court on Sunday.
The suspended officers are CMM court jail's inspector Matiur Rahman, jail in-charge (SI) Nahidur Rahman Bhuiyan, on-duty policemen who took the convicts to jail police assistant town sub-inspector Mohiuddin, constables Sharif Hasan and Abdus Sattar.
DMP's prosecution department deputy police commissioner Jashim Uddin confirmed the suspension news.
Two convicts of banned militant organisation Ansar Al Islam--Mainul Hasan and Abu Siddique-- fled from a Dhaka court premises on Sunday (November 20) spraying some chemical liquid into the eyes of policemen who were guarding them.
Following the incident, red alert has been issued in Dhaka to arrest the fugitive convicts.
Dipan was brutally hacked to death at the Jagriti Prokashoni office on the second floor of Aziz Super Market in Shahbagh on October 31, 2015.
On February 10 last year, a tribunal in Dhaka sentenced eight accused, including the escaped two, to death for killing Dipan.
