‘Change Maker for Modernity’- Sam Alim, Awarded from Bangladesh

It champions the rights of people and the planet. The founder of WhatsOn Sam Alim from Bangladesh has been awarded the Global Changemakers award by Global Leadership for UN Sustainable Goals.

Sam Alim started to build WhatsOn with the thought of changing society with a progressive outlook and embracing modernity, with Bengali characteristics. It has been nearly 30 years since he formed the organization.

However, today’s successful WhatsOn is not a miracle or was not formed overnight. It is the result of years of struggle and sacrifice. Sam Alim gives a form to his dream setting the organization brick by brick. He was only 15 years old when he started his WhatsOn journey. And gradually his hard work, dedication, and love for people made it possible for the seed to become a tree.

Sam Alim often shares the story of his journey which is full of ups and downs, happiness and sorrows. He believes “if you love your dreams and work on them with determination you can win every obstacle”. “He also says if you bring revolutionary change to your life which ultimately brings positive change to society”.

Sam Alim shares the hard times and difficulties of his initial stage and how he overcame them by having trust in people for the betterment of society and the people of his country. He also acknowledges the unconditional love and support of his wife Setsu Adachi and dearest son Seki.

Without their support, it would be difficult for him. Nevertheless, he also mentions all WhatsOn staff, friends & supporters who have worked with WhatsOn and thanks them for sharing the WhatsOn journey.

Finally and most importantly, Sam Alim cordially thanked Global Leadership for UN Sustainable Goals and said: "Thank you so much to Global Leadership UN Sustainable Goals for giving the Award to WhatsOn".
