3 school students among 4 killed in Dinajpur road crashes

Four people, including three school students, were killed in separate road accidents in Birganj and Birampur upazilas of Dinajpur on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Md Sahadat Hossain, 14, son of Afsar Ali; Shahriar Shuvo, 14, son of Jahangir Hossain; and Muzahid Hossain,13, son of Md Sukur Ali. All the deceased were from Makrai village in Birganj upazila.
Meraz Ali, an officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Birganj, said the accident took place when the three boys were returning home from school on a motorcycle, on completion of their admission process. When they reached Chakai area on Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway around 1:40pm, a rashly driven truck hit their motorcycle from behind, leaving Sahadat and Shuvo dead on the spot.
Sahadat and Suvo were ninth-graders while Muzahid was a class eight student of Kabi Nazrul High School in Birganj, he added.
Later, locals rescued Muzahid and took him to Birganj Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead, said the fire service official.
Besides, a vegetable trader (63), Md Rajib Uddin, died on the spot after an SUV hit him at Birampur upazila.
Sumon Kumar Mohonto, officer-in-charge of Birampur Police Station, the accident took place around 11:30am while Rajib was crossing the road in the area.
