2 siblings among 3 die in Uttara fire

Three teenagers, including two siblings, have died after a fire broke out at a tin-shed room in Dhaka's Uttara area early Tuesday.
The deceased are-- Jahangir Hossain, 19, his sister Ruma Akter, 17, and their cousin Afrin, 14.
Khaleda Akter, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Control Room, confirmed the news.
She said: “The fire originated at the room in Chandalbuk Manik slum area around 4:15am. Being informed, three firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after one and a half hours of frantic efforts.”
Later, the bodies were recovered from the room, she added.
The bodies were handed over to police for necessary legal formalities.
