The metro trains will operate from 8:00am to 2:00pm from April 5 and the passengers will be able to enjoy the modern service for more time.
"Currently, the metro rail services are available from 8:30am to 12:30pm," Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd MAN Siddique said at a press conference at DMTCL office today, reports BSS.
He said initially, the metro rail service was available for four hours daily - from 8:00am to noon - in the beginning and the time was increased depending on how the passengers get habituated to the new mode of public transport.
Getting good experiences, the DMTCL has decided to increase operational time to 2pm instead of 12:30pm from April 5, the managing director said.
He said the Uttara South and Shewrapara stations will open to public from tomorrow (March 31), as the DMTCL took steps to open those two stations.
With the opening of Uttara South and Shewrapara stations, commuters will be able to enjoy the metro rail ride using all nine stations from Uttara to Agargaon.
"We've formed two teams which will coordinate with the operation teams of the Uttara South and Shewrapara stations for operation," said a DMTCL official.
On December 28 last year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country's first ever elevated metro rail, setting a milestone in the country's communication history.
She opened the 11.73 km part of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 of the metro rail project from Diabari to Agargaon by unveiling its plaque at Diabari in the city.
