Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak on Thursday said that BNP does not have the capacity to resist the upcoming parliamentary elections no matter how much BNP-Jamaat hatch conspiracy.
"The BNP-Jamaat evil force has started hatching conspiracy regarding the forthcoming 12th national elections... They want to kill people and destabilise the country... But it is not possible for them to foil the upcoming election," he said addressing a protest rally organized by the Jubo
Mohila League in front of the National Press Club this morning.
The rally was organized to protest the recent death threats issued to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by BNP, Juba Dal, Chhatra Dal and other BNP-affiliated parties.
"Being on the year 2022, they are still dreaming of 1975, they threatened our prime minister with the slogan 'Let's roar with the tool of '75 again'," he said pointing to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
"Mirza Fakhrul has to decide which path he would choose...Whether he would walk on the way to democracy or on the path to conspiracy," Nanak said.
Elections would be held under the Independent Election Commission on stipulated time as per the Constitution, he added.
Joint General Secretary of Awami League and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and Awami League Organizing Secretary Ahmed Hossain also spoke on the occasion.
