BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the Election Commission (EC) had failed to create a congenial atmosphere in Cumilla City Corporation (CCC) election.
Fakhrul made the remarks while talking to journalists at an opinion-sharing meeting after joining a function of Mohila Dal at Thakurgaon on Tuesday (June 14, 2022) afternoon.
It proves that the free, fair and impartial election will never be possible in the country as long as Awami League is in power, he said.
Criticising the Election Commission (EC), Mirza Fakhrul has said it has completely failed to compel the Sadar constituency's Awami League lawmaker AKM Bahauddin Bahar to leave his constituency during the CCC election campaigns.
"The EC has utterly failed to force a ruling party lawmaker to leave his constituency for the sake of free and fair election. So, what will be the future elections in Bangladesh," he asked.
