BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas on Saturday said their party would not participate in any election under any partisan government or keeping Awami League in the power, they are preparing how to overthrow the government.
Addressing at a protest rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka, Mirza Abbas said BNP is not ready for joining elections under this government. Rather, we are preparing how to oust this government.
Jubo Dal Dhaka city units organized the rally protesting the killing of Jashore Jubo Dal senior vice-president Badiuzzaman Dhani.
About Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader’s remarks that BNP is a fallen party, Mirza Abbas said, “Those who in jail said that he would never do politics again in his life, today he says - BNP is a fallen party.”
“Our question is that if BNP is a fallen party then why are you so afraid of us? Why don’t you want to allow BNP to hold meeting, procession and rally?”
Urging the government to hold fair polls under the neutral government, Abbas said, “If you have developed so much then quit the power. If the people are happy on you then they will elect you through votes and we will also accept it.”
He further said, “We don’t want much. We want only one thing and that is elections under a non-partisan government.”
BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, member of chairperson’s advisory council Abdus Salam, senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, joint secretary general Khairul Kabir Khokon, Jubo Dal former president Saiful Alam Nirab and Jubo Dal acting president Mamun Hasan and general secretary Abdul Monayem, were present, among others.
