BNP leader Tabith Awal comes under attack in city

Tabith Awal, a member of the BNP's national executive committee and member of the international affairs committee, was injured in an ambush by Chhatra League and Jubo League activists after the pre-announced candle lighting program on Saturday.

He was attacked in front of Hotel Sheraton after holding a program in Banani. He was taken to United Hospital in Gulshan for treatment.

BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed this information to Dhaka Prokash.

The BNP announced this program in protest against the unprecedented loadshedding, rise in the prices of essentials and the killing of party leaders and workers by the police while carrying out the program.

BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal was also injured in the attack. He said, before our program started, Chhatra League, Jubo League were marching on the other side of the road. But they came from the other side and attacked our leaders and workers almost at the end of the speech of our chief guest of the program, Dr. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain.

Many leaders and activists were injured in the attack. Women workers were also injured. Dhaka City Corporation North mayoral candidate, Tabith Awal was seriously injured. Details will be given later. It never comes to mind that a peaceful program can be attacked like this, he added.

BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain, Selima Rahman, Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Organizing Secretary Shyama Obaid, Executive Committee Member Nazim Uddin Alam spoke as chief guests in the candle lighting and silent program under the chairmanship of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Aman Ullah Aman.
