I don't want this type of Chhatra League: Quader

Expressing his anger over the indiscipline of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) during a programme, Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said he doesn't expect this type of student organisation.

Mentioning BCL president and secretary Al Nahian Khan Joy and Lekhak Bhattacharjee, he said, "Is this the Chhatra League which we expect? There is no discipline here! I urged them to put down the banners but they did not do it. They even did not stop their slogans when I urged them to do so. We do not want this type of Chhatra League."

Obaidul Quader said this at the annual conference jointly organized by Dhaka Metropolitan North and Dhaka Metropolitan South Chhatra League at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Friday.

He expressed his angry reaction and said, "Everyone is a leader, so where are the workers?" So many leaders on stage, where are the workers? I don't want this Chhatra League. At that time, he asked everyone except the committee members to leave the stage.

Awami League General Secretary said, take down all the posters, stop the slogans. Is this the Chhatra League? There is no discipline! I ask you to take down the poster but you don't take it down!

He said, Awami League presidium member, former minister, former chairman of Jubo League, former general secretary of Chhatra League could not speak due to lack of time. You (Chhatra League) don't let go of the mic.

Awami League presidium members Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Organizing Secretary BM Mozammel Haque, Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, former Chhatra League leader Nazrul Islam Babu were present as special guests.

Earlier, Chhatra League Central Committee President Al Nahian Khan Joy inaugurated the conference. Chhatra League General Secretary Lekhok Bhattacharya was present as the main speaker in the conference. The conference was jointly moderated by Dhaka Metropolitan North Chhatra League General Secretary Saidur Rahman Hridoy, South Branch President Md. Mehdi Hasan and general secretary Zubair Ahmed.
