Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya Bir Bikram today said his party will remain on the streets until BNP’s rally is over to protect the lives and property of the people.
“Thousands of AL and Chhatra League members are guarding every alley, street and intersection of Dhaka city to protect the lives and property of the people as per the instruction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
The AL leader told the newsmen in front of the Awami League office at the 23 Bangabandhu Avenue here this afternoon.
“BNP said they’ll overrun the city and Khaleda Zia will occupy the government on December 10. They planned to proceed in a terrorist manner and create chaos… But, by the grace of Almighty and Sheikh Hasina's timely initiatives, their conspiracy has been foiled,” Maya said.
He mentioned that some (BNP men) said they will gather 25 lakh people, others said 10 lakh people will participate in the rally and this is how, the government will fall today.
But, they don’t know that the Awami League is deep rooted in the people’s heart, and it is not possible for BNP to unseat this government in any way, he added.
“We have said earlier and are still saying that we will cooperate with anyone who wants to gather peacefully and the people can see the result of our cooperation to them that they (BNP) are staging their rally,” Maya said.
