Awami League is a smart party: Hasan

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Wednesday said Awami League has always been a smart party and it first thinks what needs to be done to take the nation ahead.

"Bangladesh has been turned into a digital country under the leadership of Awami League. And the country will be turned into a smart country too under the leadership of the party," he told reports while visiting the Suhrawardy Udyan where the 22nd national council of AL will be held.

The minister said Awami League had started the independence movement of the Bangalees and informed it to the nation during the Pakistan period. The nation was prepared for the freedom struggle, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

He said Bangladesh didn't fall behind in the fourth industrial revolution though it was behind in first, second and third revolution. The country has been turned into a Digital Bangladesh' under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he added.

He said the national council of Awami League will be held just after two days and the council is important not only for the party, but also an important milestone in the national life. The inaugural song of the conference of AL which was played in 1966 was 'Amar Sonar Bangla, Ami Tomay Bhalobashi' and later the song was made national anthem of the country, he added.

The minister said every time there is a message aimed at building the country, moving it forward, reaching the destination dreamt by Father of the Nation and the freedom fighters from the council of Awami League.

There will be specific guidelines in this council too on taking the country ahead, decontaminating the country's politics and resisting the intrusion of evil forces in politics and the anti-independence evil forces under the leadership of BNP, said Hasan.

AL deputy publicity secretary Aminul Islam Amin, former lawmaker Md Nabi Newaz, AL leader AHM Tareq Uddin and Md Rashed, among others, were present.
