Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Advocate Kamrul Islam on Sunday said that BNP-Jamaat do not obey the Election Commission as they want to bring an unelected government to Bangladesh.
"BNP-Jamaat and their some like-minded parties are hatching conspiracies to ruin the elections. They do not obey the Election Commission as they want to bring an unelected government to Bangladesh. BNP is trying hard and soul to destroy all the democratic institutions," he said.
The AL leader said these while addressing a programme organized by the Sommilito Awami Sangskritik Jote on National Press Club premises on the occasion of the historic Homecoming Day of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
"When the country is moving forward, BNP is conspiring to take the nation backwards", he said.
Urging BNP men to shun the path of terrorism, Kamrul said terrorist activities will not be tolerated in any way.
Issuing a note of warning against BNP, he said such terrorist activities will be countered with the support of the people of the country.
He said that the government wants to hold free and fair elections with the participation of all parties.
The next general election will be held in line with the constitution, he said, adding that this government will not resign even a day before the elections.
So, there is no point in raising movement unnecessarily, he added.
