Hefajat Secretary General passes away

Hefajat-e-Islam Secretary General Nurul Islam Jihadi passed away at a Dhaka hospital on Monday noon. He was 73.
The Hefajat-e-Islam leader breathed his last around 12:00pm at the coronary care unit of Labaid hospital, Chowdhury Meher-e-Khuda, said public relations officer of the hospital.
Party sources said Nurul Islam was admitted to Labaid Hospital after suffering a heart attack and old-age complexity on Saturday.
When his physical condition deteriorated rapidly, he was put on life support that night.
Nurul Islam Jihadi is a Deobandi Islamic scholar. He was made the Secretary General of Hefajat-e-Islam following the demise of Nur Hossain Kasemi in December 2020.
He was born in 1948 at Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram.
After completing his education, he started his career as a teacher at Kaiyagram Madrasa under Patia. In 1984, he founded Al Jamiatul Islamia Makhjanul Ulum in Dhaka's Khilgaon area.
He was director general and Shaykhul Hadith of this madrasa until his death.
