Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the vow of great 21st February is to resist those who nurture the attackers of language, culture and heritage and want to take back to that hostile ideology.
The minister told reporters after placing rich tributes to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement on the occasion of Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day at the Central Shaheed Minar here this morning.
AL Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Aminul Islam Amin was present.
Hasan said, "On this day in 1952, our predecessors including Salam, Barkat, Rafiq, Jabbar established the claim of our language by sacrificing their lives. And our struggle of freedom had started from there. On that day, the Pakistani ruler attacked our language, culture and heritage."
He said it is regrettably true that those who hold their ideology and want to hurt the culture and language are doing politics in Bangladesh even after 51 years of independence.
Hasan said, "BNP does politics with the anti-liberation force Jamaat, the party which doesn't believe in our culture and language rather believes in Pakistan ideology. For this, attacks were carried on our language-culture after independence and BNP was the main patron."
