Leader of the opposition Raushan Ershad on Thursday said any attempt to come to power in a way other than the constitutional and democratic process won’t succeed.

“People will choose the next leadership of the country only in an acceptable and participatory election. So, attempts to come to power in a different way outside the constitutional and democratic process will not succeed,” she said.

The Leader of the Opposition made the remark while addressing a gathering of her supporters at her political office in the city’s Gulshan area through a virtual platform. In the function, some new supporters joined her party, said a press release.

“If anyone tries to come to power through the backdoor by creating chaos in the country in the name of movement, it will be resisted,” she said.

Raushan asked the Jatiya Party leaders and workers to stand united and resist the chaotic elements on the streets.

Pointing at her new and old supporters, she said a united Jatiya Party will participate in the next election.

Rahgir Almahe Ershad MP (alias Saad Ershad) and opposition chief whip Mashiur Rahman Ranga, among others, spoke at the function.
