South Africa reach 314/8 amid Khaled's fiery bowling

South Africa managed to reach 314-8 at lunch on day two of the first Test, despite a fiery bowling of Bangladesh fast bowler Syed Khaled Ahmed at Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban today.

Khaled ended with 3-80, including two wickets in this session with new ball. Simon Harmer was batting on 8 with debutant Lizaad Williams on 6 at the first interval of the day. Temba Bavuma missed out on his century in his 50th Test, being out on 93, reports BSS.

Resuming the day on 233-4, South Africa were quickly reduced to 245-6 when Khaled removed overnight unbeaten batter Kyle Verreynne (28) and Wian Mulder for duck in consecutive deliveries.

Bavuma and Keshav Maharaj then resisted and added 53-run for the seventh wicket stand. Mehidy Hasan Miraz broke the partnership, taking out the prized scalp of Bavuma for 93. He hit a dozen of boundaries in the knock in which he played 190 balls.

Ebadot further derailed the hosts, rattling the stump of Maharaj for 19. Harmer, playing his first Test after five years and Williams then resisted and helped the side go past 300. Ebadot and Miraz however took two wickets to complement Khaled's three-wicket haul.

Earlier on day one, Captain Dean Elgar drove South Africa, hitting 67.
