Bangladesh reach 210-7 at lunch

Bangladesh are in danger of being forced to follow-on after reaching 210-7 at lunch on day three of the second and final cricket Test against South Africa at Port Elizabeth today.

The Tigers still need 44 runs to avoid the follow-on as South Africa piled up 453 in its first innings. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was batting on 9 with Taijul Islam on 0 at the first interval of the day, which was delayed by 20 minutes due to rain.

Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed on 51, just on the stroke of lunch while Yasir Ali made 46. The duo began the day on 139-5, with a fear of follow-on. However, Yasir started the day with a boundary and scored briskly to reverse the pressure on South Africa.

While Yasir went fluently, Mushfiqur Rahim adopted the policy of going slowly and the strategy served the team well.

Keshav Maharaj struck against the play, taking out Yasir with a return catch after the batter hit seven fours for his 87-ball-knock. Mushfiqur then swept Simon Harmer for boundary through square leg to bring up his 25th half-century off 134 balls.

But two balls later he played a needless reverse sweep to gift his wicket to Harmer and South Africa put them firmly on top.

Wiaan Mulder was the most successful bowler for South Africa so far with 3-25 while Duanne Olivier took 2-39 but none of them got any wicket on day three as of now.

Harmer and Maharaj shared the fallen two wickets in the morning session of the day.
