Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie won the toss and sent Bangladesh into bat first in the three-match ODI series opener today at County Ground Chelmsford.
Just one and half months on from beating Ireland in their own backyard, Bangladesh found themselves on English shores to play the Irish again.
But the series is particularly important for Ireland. Had they win the series 3-0, they'll pip South Africa and push them to the World Cup qualifiers. Bangladesh, however want to keep the winning momentum going on ahead of the World Cup.
As it was expected, Bangladesh are going with three fast bowlers.
"After the first ten overs, when it stops swinging, I think it will be a very good wicket," Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal said. Ireland also want to make a good start to the series.
"We want to try to turn this into our home for this week, and have a good week," Irish captain Balbirnie said.
