Dollar climbs to tk 102 in open market

The value of the US dollar touched tk 102 in the open market on Tuesday. Money exchanges up to a maximum of Tk 102 against per dollar were sold in different parts of the capital on Tuesday.
The exchange rate was 98 tk against per dollar in the capital on Monday. Motijheel as well as Paltan and Gulshan money exchanges sold at 101 to 102 tk against per dollar.
In the face of huge demand and apparent economic crisis, Bangladesh Bank depreciated taka against the US dollar to Tk 87.50 on Monday.
However, the price is being maintained only in inter-bank exchanges. Even, the banks are charging the importers higher than the fixed price.
